M/T Change Lever Assembly Removal, Installation, and Inspection

Removal

1. Intake Air Pipe





1. Remove the intake air pipe.

2. Air Cleaner





1. Disconnect the intake air duct (A).

2. Remove the air cleaner (B).

3. Remove the harness clamp (C).

3. Back-Up Light Switch Connector





1. Remove the transmission hanger (A).





2. Disconnect the connector (A).

4. Shift Cable Bracket





1. Remove the lock pins (A).

2. Remove the shift cable bracket bolts (B).

3. Disconnect the shift cables from the change lever assembly (C).

4. Carefully remove both cables and the shift cable bracket (D) together to avoid bending the cables.

5. M/T Change Lever Assembly





1. Remove the change lever assembly (A).

2. Remove the 8 x 10 mm dowel pins (B).

Inspection

1. Change Lever Inspection





1. Measure the clearance between the change lever (A) and the select lever (B) with a feeler gauge (C). If the clearance exceeds the service limit, go to step 2.












2. Measure the groove width of the change lever.

* If the groove width is not within the standard, replace the change lever.
* If the groove width is within the standard, replace the select lever.








Installation

1. M/T Change Lever Assembly





1. Clean any dirt or oil from the mating surface of the change lever assembly and the transmission housing.

2. Apply liquid gasket, P/N 08717-0004, 08718-0001, 08718-0003, 08718-0004, or 08718-0009 evenly to the transmission housing mating surface of the change lever assembly. Install the component within 5 minutes of applying the liquid gasket.

NOTE:
* If you apply liquid gasket P/N 08718-0012, the component must be installed within 4 minutes.
* If too much time has passed after applying the liquid gasket, remove the old liquid gasket and residue, then reapply new liquid gasket.





3. Install the 8 x 10 mm dowel pins (A).

4. Install the change lever assembly (B).

2. Shift Cable Bracket





1. Apply a light coat of silicone grease (P/N 08C30- B0234M) to the shift cable ends (A).

NOTE: Make sure not to get any silicone grease on the terminal part of the connectors and switches, especially if you have silicone grease on your hands or gloves.

2. Connect the shift cable ends to the change lever assembly (B).

3. Install the shift cable bracket (C).

4. Install the lock pins (D).

3. Back-Up Light Switch Connector





1. Connect the connector (A).





2. Install the transmission hanger (A).

4. Air Cleaner





1. Install the harness clamp (A).

2. Install the air cleaner (B).

3. Connect the intake air duct (C).

5. Intake Air Pipe





1. Install the intake air pipe.
