Audio unit button illumination does not work
* Check the vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.
* Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
1. Problem verification:
Problem verification
-1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
-2. Turn the combination lighting switch to the parking light position.
-3. Check if the audio unit buttons are illuminated.
Are the buttons illuminated?
-YES- Intermittent failure, the audio unit is OK at this time.
-NO- The failure is duplicated, go to step 2.
2. Determine possible failure area (interior lights circuit, others):
Determine possible failure area (interior lights circuit, others)
-1. Check if several other buttons that are not related to the audio system are illuminated.
Are the buttons illuminated?
-YES- Go to step 3.
-NO- Troubleshoot the interior lights.
3. Open wire check (ILLUMI+ line):
Open wire check (ILLUMI+ line)
-1. Turn the combination light switch off.
-2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
-3. Disconnect the following connector.
NOTE: Eject all the discs before disconnecting the audio unit to prevent damaging the CD player's load mechanism.
-4. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
-5. Turn the combination lighting switch to the parking light position.
-6. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Is there battery voltage?
-YES- Go to step 4.
-NO- Repair a open in the wire between the No. B35 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box and the audio unit.
4. Open wire check (ILLUMI-(BULB) line):
Open wire check (ILLUMI-(BULB) line)
-1. Turn the combination light switch off.
-2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
-3. Disconnect the following connector.
-4. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Is there continuity?
-YES- Replace the audio unit Audio Unit Removal and Installation.
-NO- Repair an open in the wire between the audio unit and the gauge control module (tach).
