DTC Troubleshooting: B1248 (J and MODE), B1248 (7)

DTC B1248 or DTC indicator 7 or J and MODE:

A Problem in the Rear Mode Control Motor Circuit, Linkage, Door, or Motor

1. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and then back to ON (II).

3. Do the Self-Diagnostic Function with the HDS, the HVAC control unit, or the climate control unit.

4. Check for DTCs.

Is DTC B1248 or 7 (without climate control), B1248 or J and MODE (with climate control) indicated?

YES -

Go to step 5.

NO -

Intermittent failure. Check for loose wires or poor connections on the rear mode control motor circuit.

5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

6. Test the rear mode control motor Rear Mode Control Motor Test.

Is the rear mode control motor OK?

YES -

Go to step 7.

NO -

Replace the rear mode control motor Rear Mode Control Motor Replacement, or repair the rear mode control linkage or door.

7. Disconnect the rear mode control motor 7P connector.

8. Disconnect rear A/C control unit connector A (12P).

9. Check for continuity between the following terminals of rear A/C control unit connector A (12P) and the rear mode control motor 7P connector.









Is there continuity?

YES -

Go to step 10.

NO -

Repair open in the wire(s) between the rear A/C control unit and the rear mode control motor.

10. Check for continuity between body ground and rear A/C control unit connector A (12P) terminals No. 2 and No. 3 individually.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Repair short to body ground in the wires between the rear A/C control unit and the rear mode control motor.

NO -

Substitute a known-good rear A/C control unit, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original rear A/C control unit Rear A/C Control Unit Replacement.
