Accessory Power Socket Test/Replacement
Accessory Power Socket Test/Replacement
NOTE: If all accessory power sockets do not work, check the No. A2-2 (AS-FB-2) (50 A) fuse in the main under-hood fuse box, and the No. C13 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box first.
1. Gently press the tabs (A) and remove the socket (B).
NOTE: The front upper accessory power socket is shown; the front lower accessory power socket is similar.
2. Disconnect the 2P connector (C) from the front upper accessory power socket.
3. Pull the 2P connectors (A) from the panel.
*1: Front upper accessory power socket
*2: Front lower accessory power socket
4. Inspect the connector terminals to be sure they are all making good contact.
- If the terminals are bent, loose, or corroded, repair them as necessary, and recheck the system.
- If the terminals look OK, go to step 5.
5. Turn the ignition switch to ACCESSORY (I).
6. Choose the appropriate test:
- Front upper accessory power socket, go to step 7.
- Front lower accessory power socket, go to step 10.
7. Measure the voltage between passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box connector E (42P) terminal No. 8 and body ground. There should be less than 0.2 V.
- If there is less than 0.2 V, go to step 8.
- If there is more than 0.2 V, check for:
- An open or high resistance in the ground wire between passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box connector E (42P) terminal No. 8 and ground (G405).
- Poor ground (G405).
8. Measure the voltage between front upper accessory power socket 2P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground. There should be battery voltage.
- If there is battery voltage, go to step 9.
- If there is no voltage, check for:
- Blown No. D27 (15 A) fuse in the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box.
- Faulty front upper accessory power socket relay.
- Faulty passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box.
- An open in the wire between front upper accessory power socket terminal No. 2 and passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box connector E (42P) terminal No. 4.
9. Check for continuity between front upper accessory power socket 2P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground. There should be continuity.
- If there is continuity, replace the power socket; then go to step 13.
- If there is no continuity, check for:
- An open or high resistance in the ground wire between front upper accessory power socket 2P connector terminal No. 1 and ground (G403).
- Poor ground (G403).
10. Measure the voltage between passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box connector E (42P) terminal No. 8 and body ground. There should be less than 0.2 V.
- If there is less than 0.2 V, go to step 11.
- If there is more than 0.2 V, check for:
- An open or high resistance in the ground wire between passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box connector E (42P) terminal No. 8 and ground (G405).
- Poor ground (G405).
11. Measure the voltage between front lower accessory power socket 2P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground. There should be battery voltage.
- If there is battery voltage, go to step 12.
- If there is no voltage, check for:
- Blown No. D15 (15 A) fuse in the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box.
- Faulty front lower accessory power socket relay.
- Faulty passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box.
- An open in the wire between front lower accessory power socket terminal No. 2 and passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box connector E (42P) terminal No. 11.
12. Check for continuity between front lower accessory power socket 2P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground. There should be continuity.
- If there is continuity, replace the power socket; go to step 13.
- If there is no continuity, check for:
- An open or high resistance in the ground wire between front lower accessory power socket 2P connector terminal No. 1 and ground (G403).
- Poor ground (G403).
13. Remove the housing (A) from the panel.
NOTE: The front upper accessory power socket is shown; the front lower accessory power socket is similar.
14. Install the power socket in the reverse order of removal.
