Starter Removal and Installation

Removal

1. Do the battery removal procedure.

2. Remove the air cleaner Service and Repair.

3. Remove the battery base.

4. Disconnect the positive starter cable (A) and the S terminal connector (B).





5. Remove the upper radiator hose bracket (C) and the dipstick (D).

6. Remove the two bolts holding the starter, then remove the starter (E) and the gasket (F).

Installation

1. Install the starter (A), then tighten the mounting bolts (B).

NOTE: Always use a new gasket (C).





2. Install the upper radiator hose bracket (D) and the dipstick (E).

3. Connect the positive starter cable (F) and the S terminal connector (G). Make sure the crimped side of the ring terminal faces away from the starter when you connect it.

4. Install the battery base.

5. Install the air cleaner Service and Repair.

6. Do the battery installation procedure.

7. Start the engine to make sure the starter works properly.
