D3 Switch Circuit Troubleshooting (5-Speed A/T)
D3 Switch Circuit Troubleshooting
1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
2. Disconnect the D3 switch connector, and test the D3 switch D3 Switch Test (5-Speed A/T).
Does the switch test OK?
YES -
Go to step 3.
NO -
Replace the D3 switch D3 Switch Replacement (5-Speed A/T).
3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
4. Measure the voltage between D3 switch connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2.
Is there battery voltage?
YES -
Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software PCM Update, or substitute a known-good PCM, and recheck. If the symptom goes away with a known-good PCM, replace the original PCM Service and Repair.
NO -
Go to step 5.
5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
6. Check for continuity between D3 switch connector terminal No. 1 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to step 7.
NO -
Repair an open in the wire between D3 switch connector terminal No. 1 and body ground (G403), or repair poor body ground (G403).
7. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
8. Disconnect PCM connector A (49P).
9. Check for continuity between D3 switch connector terminal No. 2 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Repair a short to body ground in the wire between PCM connector terminal A17 and the D3 switch connector.
NO -
Go to step 10.
10. Check for continuity between D3 switch connector terminal No. 2 and PCM connector terminal A17.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software PCM Update, or substitute a known-good PCM, and recheck. If the symptom goes away with a known-good PCM, replace the original PCM Service and Repair.
NO -
Repair an open in the wire between PCM connector terminal A17 and the D3 switch connector.
