HandsFreeLink System Self-Diagnostic Function

How to Check the HandsFreeLink System Condition

NOTE:

- Check the vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.
- The self-diagnostic function can only be initiated while the HFL is in its idle state.
- The self-diagnostic function starts after you press and hold the BACK button on the voice control switch for 5 seconds, and ends if the HandsFreeLink control unit returns to its idle state.

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

2. Press and hold the BACK button (A) for more than 5 seconds.






3. When the HFL system enters the self-diagnostic function, the following will occurs:

- Without navigation: If the system has not completed testing for HFL DTCs, HandsFreeLink Self Diagnosis in progress... is displayed on the audio display.
- If the HFL is OK, and there are no HFL DTCs, the HFL system says, "The HFT is OK."
- If there are any HFL DTCs stored, the HFL system says, "The HFT is NG."

How to Check the HFL DTC's (with navigation)

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

2. Press and hold the MAP/GUIDE, DEST/ROUTE, and CANCEL buttons for 3 seconds or more, and the self-diagnosis begins.






3. Using the interface dial, select the Detail Information Setting, then press the ENTER button.






4. Select the Unit Check from the Detail Information Setting menu, then press the ENTER button.






5. Select the HFL from the Unit Check menu, then press the ENTER button.






6. Check the GA-NET status:

- If OK, go to step 7.
- If NG, do the HandsFreeLink control unit Input Test Testing and Inspection.





7. Check the HFL status:

- If OK, Go to step 8.
- If DTC 1792 is displayed, go to DTC B1792 troubleshooting B1792.

8. Return to the Select Diagnosis Items menu, and select the Mic icon, then press the ENTER button.






9. Check the Mic and STRG SW status:

NOTE: Refer to the navigation system section System Diagnostic Mode about using the Mic Level and the Steering Switch test.

- If OK, there was an intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.
- If any DTC(s) are displayed, troubleshoot the indicated DTC(s).





10. To end the self-diagnostic function, select the Return, or turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

How to Check the HFL DTC's (without navigation)

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

2. Make sure the audio system is turned off.

3. Press and hold the preset No.1, No. 3, and No. 5 buttons.

4. While holding the buttons, press the VOLUME/POWER () knob.

5. Release the buttons, then press the PHONE button, the HFL diagnosis menu screen appears.










6. Select the HandsFreeLink Status using the SELECTOR knob, then press the SELECTOR knob to enter the diagnosis.





7. HandsFreeLink Information displays the HandsFreeLink control unit part number and the software version.

If the Part# and S/W is not displayed, the GA-Net communication may be failure, do the HandsFreeLink control unit Input Test Testing and Inspection.

8. The HandsFreeLink Status screen displays the following information:

- HFT Unit(DTC 3); HandsFreeLink control unit status (OK or NG) is displayed.
- MIC<->HFT Unit(DTC 1); Connection status (OK or NG) between the HFL microphone and the HandsFreeLink control unit is displayed.
- SW<->HFL Unit(DTC 2); Connection status (OK or NG) between the HFL switch and the HandsFreeLink control unit is displayed.





9. If any status(DTC) is NG, troubleshoot the indicated DTC(s). To return to the previous screen, press the RETURN button.

10. To end the self-diagnostic function, turn the audio system off, or turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
