SRS DTC Troubleshooting: 62-2x
DTC 62-2x ("x" can be 0 thru 9 or A thru F):
Short in the Front Passenger's Seat Belt Buckle Switch
NOTE:
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, find out if the vehicle was in a collision. If so, verify that all the required components were replaced with new components, of the correct part number, and that they were properly installed Service and Repair.
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures Service and Repair, General Troubleshooting Information Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes, and Battery Terminal Disconnection and Reconnection Procedures.
- '12 model: Before replacing the SRS unit, check the SRS unit software version with the HDS. If the software version is not the latest, update the SRS unit software Testing and Inspection, and retest.
1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), then wait for 10 seconds.
3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then buckle and unbuckle the front passenger's seat belt several times.
4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC 62-2x indicated?
YES -
Go to step 5.
NO -
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures. If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.
5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
6. Disconnect the front passenger's seat wire harness 3P connector from the front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 3P connector (A).
7. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
8. '09-11 models: From the HDS Main Menu, select SRS, then PARAMETER INFORMATION. In the PARAMETER INFORMATION Menu, select Buckle Switch, Seat Position Sensor and check the status on the HDS screen for FRONT RIGHT SEAT BELT BUCKLE SWITCH.
'12 model: From the HDS Main Menu, select SRS, then Data List, and check the status on the HDS screen for FRONT RIGHT SEAT BELT BUCKLE SWITCH.
Is OPEN indicated on the HDS?
YES -
Replace the front passenger's seat belt buckle assembly, then clear the DTC.
NO -
Go to step 9.
9. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
10. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then wait for 3 minutes.
11. '09-11 models: Disconnect SRS unit connector B (28P) from the SRS unit.
'12 model: Disconnect SRS unit connector B (39P) from the SRS unit.
12. Measure the resistance between front passenger's seat wire harness 3P connector terminal No. 3 and body ground.
Is there an open circuit, or at least 1 MOhms?
YES -
Go to step 13.
NO -
Short to ground in the floor wire harness or the front passenger's seat wire harness ; replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.
13. Measure the resistance between front passenger's seat wire harness 3P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground.
Is there an open circuit, or at least 1 MOhms?
YES -
Faulty SRS unit; Replace the SRS unit Service and Repair.
NO -
Short to ground in the floor wire harness or the front passenger's seat wire harness; replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.
