General Safety Precautions

Block Drive Wheels
Block the drive wheels as a safety precaution, before beginning any service with the vehicle on the ground.

Support the Vehicle
- Use only specified jacking positions.
- Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack.
- Use jackstands, on a flat and level hard surface, for safe support.

Eye Protection
Always wear appropriate eye protection.

Catalytic Converters
Use caution when working near the catalytic converter to prevent the possibility of burns. The temperatures within the converter can exceed 650° C (1200° F).

Check Before Starting Engine
Start the engine only after making certain the engine compartment is clear of tools and people.

Hood Support
The support rod must be inserted into the hole near the edge of the hood whenever you inspect the engine compartment to prevent the hood from falling and possibly injuring you. Assure that the support rod has been released prior to closing the hood. Always double check to be sure the hood is firmly latched before driving away.
