Crankshaft Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection

Distributor Exploded View:

To test the Crank Angle and the #1 TDC Sensors (cylinder detect signal), located in the distributor, proceed as follows.

Crank Angle And #1 Cyl TDC Sensor Connector Location:

Crank Angle And #1 Cyl TDC Sensor Connector Identification:

1. Connect a voltmeter between terminal 1 and 2, and 2 and 4, of the crank angle and #1 TDC sensor connector.
Terminal 1: Crank angle signal
Terminal 2: Sensor ground
Terminal 4: #1 TDC signal (cylinder detect signal)

2. Measure the output voltage of the terminals while cranking the engine.

Standard Values
Terminal 1: 2.0 - 2.5V
Terminal 4: 1.8 - 2.5V (needle fluctuates)

Crank Angle And #1 TDC Sensor System:

3. When the voltage is abnormal, check the sensor power and ground circuits. If nothing unusual is found, disassemble and inspect the distributor.
