Neutral Safety Switch: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Place manual control lever in Neutral position, then remove control lever retainer and control lever.
3. Disconnect electrical harness, then remove switch retaining bolts and switch assembly.
4. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

Fig. 1 Neutral Start Switch Adjustment:

a. Adjust switch, with manual control lever in Neutral position, turn switch body until wide end of control lever, Fig. 1, aligns with switch body flange.
b. Hold switch body in position, torque retaining bolts to 8 ft. lbs.
