THIS TSB REVISES TSB # 95-36-001 AND CONTAINS UPDATED PARTS INFORMATION FOR THE DOHC ELANTRA COLD START REPAIR KIT
DESCRIPTION:
Some Elantra DOHC engines may be difficult to start during extremely cold (below 0°F) temperatures. In order to improve this condition, a repair kit has been developed.
PARTS INFORMATION
NOTE:
The repair kit contains a modulator, extension harness, adapter and 2 straps, as shown in the illustration.
REPAIR KIT INSTALLATION LAYOUT
SERVICE PROCEDURES:
1. Record the customers preset radio stations. Turn off the ignition key and disconnect the battery negative terminal.
2. Remove the driver's side of the lower crash pad.
3. Remove the control relay.
4. Remove the relay box.
5. Remove the ECM protector.
6. Disconnect the ECM connectors from the ECM.
7. Strap the modulator and the extension harness together as shown in the illustration.
8. Peel the protective covers off the two sided tapes on the surface of the adapter and attach the adapter to the ECM as shown in the diagram at the right.
9. Connect the extension harness connectors (red taped side) to the ECM and the control harness connectors to the adapter of the repair kit.
10. Strap the extension harness, control harness and adapter together as shown in the illustration.
11. Reinstall the relay box and control relay.
12. Reinstall the lower side of the crash pad.
13. Reconnect the battery negative terminal and start the engine to check if the connection is complete. Reset the customer's preset radio stations and clock.
