Service Procedure

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

1. Vehicle Inspection Procedure




A. Verify that the vehicle was manufactured within the affected production date range and is being operated within an affected State. Also verify that the Campaign has not already been performed by looking for a punch mark above the 15th digit of the Vehicle Identification Number on the driver's side door VIN plate and/or by looking under the car at both front springs.

B. If the Campaign has not been performed on this vehicle and it meets the criteria in "A", proceed to "2. Coil Spring Guide Installation Procedure".

C. If the Campaign has been performed on this vehicle or the vehicle does not meet the criteria in "A", it is not necessary to install the coil spring guides. Return the vehicle to the customer.

2. Coil Spring Guide Installation Procedure

A. Remove both front wheels.

B. Place the spring guide bracket 31A" behind the lower spring seat bracket of the strut as shown in the photograph below.





C. Place the clamp bracket "B" with the bottom of the bracket into the open area of the flange in the front of the strut as shown in the photograph below.





D. Align the holes in bracket "A" with the holes in bracket "B" and insert the bolts.

E. Tighten and torque the bolts per the following specification.

Torque Specification: 35 - 45 Nm (350 - 450 kg.cm) (25 - 32 lb.ft)

F. Install a spring guide assembly on the other side of the vehicle by following the same procedure.

G. Install both front wheels and torque the wheel lug nuts per the following specification.

Torque Specification: 90 - 100 Nm (900 - 1,100 kg.cm) (65 - 80 lb.ft.)

3. Recall Campaign Identification Mark

Apply a punch mark over the 15th digit of the Vehicle Identification Number on the driver's side door VIN plate.
