ADDITION OF ACCENT 3-DOOR HATCH RELEASE HANDLE

DESCRIPTION:

An outside release handle has been added to the rear hatch of the 1998 MY Accent 3-door. The key lock function has been changed to engage/disengage the handle. The exterior and interior trim panels have been changed to fit the new parts. The remote cable operated hatch release handle (located next to the fuel filler door release handle on 1997 Accents) has been deleted.

OPERATION PROCEDURE:

To open the rear hatch:

1. Turn the key clockwise to unlock the rear hatch.





2. Pull on outside release handle, located behind the trim piece above the license plate, to release the latch and raise the hatch manually.

Note:
The outside release handle remains operative, and the hatch remains unlocked until it is locked with the key.

To lock the rear hatch:

Turn the key counterclockwise to lock the rear hatch.
