DESCRIPTION:
The 1999 2.5L V6 Sonata's generator design and part number were changed beginning with 5/21/99 production. The change involves the following:
1. The physical appearance of the generator is different. The new generator does not have the "green band" in the middle of the housing.
2. Although both the new and old generators can be physically installed in all 1999 V6 Sonatas because they have the same mounting points, they are NOT interchangeable due to a change in the electrical operation of the generator (see attached photos illustrating the difference in the connectors).
