DESCRIPTION:

This bulletin is issued in connection with TSB 01-40-012 (2001 Santa Fe Manual Transaxle Gear Oil Inspection Procedure - Shop Manual Correction).

Effective February 12, 2001 production, an oil filler plug has been added in the 2001 Santa Fe manual transaxle case to make the oil level inspection procedure easier.

This bulletin provides the gear oil level inspection procedure.

NOTE:
For a detailed procedure on "How to Inspect Gear Oil Inspection" with the previous design case, refer to TSB 01-40-012.





INSPECTION PROCEDURE:

VEHICLES AFFECTED:

^ Model: Santa Fe vehicles with manual transaxle

^ Affected vehicle production date range: Produced from February 12, 2001

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

1. Raise the vehicle.

2. Remove the oil filler plug.

3. Check the oil level and refill it if necessary.





NOTE:
Oil level should be at the lower portion of the filler plug hole.

4. Install the oil filler plug and lower the vehicle.

Tightening torque for filler plug:

20-24 lb.ft (29-34 Nm, 290-340 kg.cm)

SPECIFIED MANUAL TRANSAXLE OIL:

Oil: HP Gear Oil SAE 75W/90 (API-GLA)

Capacity: 2.43 US qt (2.3 Lit, 2.1 Imp qt)
