DESCRIPTION:
If a 2001 V6 Santa Fe has a crankshaft position sensor code stored and experiences all or some of the following symptoms:
^ The engine intermittently runs rough, hesitates and/or stumbles
^ The ECM stored codes P0335 (CRANKSHAFT POSI.SENSOR-MAL.) and P1372 (SEGMENT TIME INCORRECT). These two codes usually set together.
^ The check engine light may or may not be lit.
^ The automatic transmission will not shift from 3rd gear (transmission fail safe) and the engine speed will not increase beyond 3,000 RPMs.
^ The ECM or TCM has other codes stored such as:
^ P1529 (TCM requested the ECM to turn on the check engine light)
^ P0740 Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid Valve)
^ P0732 (2nd gear ratio does not meet specification)
^ P0050 (undefined code -- false code)
^ P1600 (undefined code -- false code)
^ P0755 (Underdrive Solenoid Valve)
^ P0300 thru P0306 (misfire codes)
^ P1616 (Main Relay Malfunction)
REPAIR PROCEDURES:
1. Replace the crankshaft position sensor (P/N 39180-37150). Do not attempt to diagnose/repair the automatic transaxle.
2. If other codes return (after clearing them and test driving the vehicle), diagnose the codes repair the vehicle as necessary.
