Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Service Procedure

NOTE:
Verify that the vehicle is affected by identifying the vehicle production date and VIN.

1. Open the driver's side door. Using a trim clip removal tool, remove the plastic clips (2 each) and pull the carpeting down.

2. Remove the steel cover after removing the cover mounting bolt (10 mm socket).

3. Check the PCM production lot number marked on the PCM label to determine the production date. Use a flashlight if necessary.

NOTE:
If the lot number is not 108824 or 108825 (table shown in this TSB), no further work is required. Reassemble the vehicle.

4. Reinstall the removed components in the reverse order of removal.

NOTE:
If the lot number is 108824 or 108825, then perform the following PCM replacement procedure.

5. Record the customer's preset radio stations, open the hood and disconnect the battery negative cable.

6. Disconnect the PCM connectors and remove the three PCM mounting nuts (10 mm socket).

NOTE:
Though space is limited, all three nuts can be removed from the driver's side.

7. Pull out the A/T control relay, remove the PCM, and install the new PCM.

HINT:
Lift the PCM straight up to clear the mounting studs before pulling the PCM sideways.

8. Install all removed components in the reverse order of removal.

9. Reconnect the battery negative cable. Reset radio stations and clock.
