DESCRIPTION:

The SULEV emission standard (Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle) has been applied on the 2003 Model Year ELANTRAS equipped with California Emissions Specification (CAL-SPEC) AND Automatic Transmission (CAL-SPEC Manual Transmission Equipped Elantras are not designed to meet the SULEV emissions standard).

Production of the SULEV Elantra began on December 4, 2002.

The SULEV emissions standard results in significant changes to the exhaust emission and the evaporative emission system, including the adoption of CVVT (Continuously Variable Valve Timing).

This bulletin provides information related to the SULEV system.
