ECM REPROGRAMMING INSTRUCTIONS FOR DTC P0121 IN HIGH ALTITUDE REGIONS

DESCRIPTION:

Some 2005 MY Accent vehicles may experience the following symptom in high altitude regions when the engine is running for more than 50 seconds after the engine is turned OFF, and then back ON again within 0.5 seconds:

^ Check engine light is on.

^ Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0121 (Throttle Position Sensor Malfunction) is stored in the engine control module (ECM).

This bulletin provides a procedure to reprogram the ECM to correct this condition using the Hi-Scan Pro.

^ Model: 2005 ACCENT vehicles

^ Affected vehicle production date range: June 4, 2004 through December 2, 2004

CAUTIONS BEFORE REPROGRAMMING:

1. Conduct reprogramming with the ignition key in the "ON" position.

2. Be careful not to disconnect any cables connected to the vehicle or Hi-Scan Pro during reprogramming.

WARNING:
If reprogramming is interrupted, the manual update procedure must be used.

3. Do not start the engine during reprogramming.

4. Do not turn the ignition key OFF during reprogramming.

5. When the reprogramming is completed, turn the ignition key OFF for 20 seconds before starting the engine.
