REPLACEMENT OF AIR INTAKE HOSE CLAMPS
DESCRIPTION:
Some TUCSON vehicles with 2.7L engines may experience the following condition:
^ The air intake hoses may detach from the air flow sensor, resulting in rough engine running and check engine light illumination.
^ The service procedure in this TSB describes how to replace the original wire type intake hose clamps with band type clamps to provide a more secure attachment.
VEHICLES AFFECTED:
^ Model: TUCSON vehicles with 2.7L engines
^ Affected vehicle production date range: Produced through March 25, 2005
PARTS INFORMATION:
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
1. Turn the ignition to the off position.
2. Open and secure hood.
Disconnect the air flow sensor connector.
3. Loosen the 2 air intake hose clamps (wire type) on both sides of the air flow sensor. Remove the air flow sensor from the air intake hoses.
^ Remove the air flow sensor assembly
4. Remove the 2 wire type clamps from the "A" and "B" air intake hoses.
^ Original wire type air intake hose clamp.
5. Slide 2 new band type clamps over the ends of the "A" and "B" air intake hoses.
^ Band type hose clamp (Service part)
6. Reinstall the air flow sensor between the "A" and "B" air intake hoses.
NOTE:
Make sure that the air flow sensor connector direction is as shown.
7. Securely connect the "A" and "B" air intake hoses to the air flow sensor and tighten the clamps to specification.
^ Clamp torque specification : 0.4 - 0.5
kgf-m (35 lbf.-in. - 44 lbf.-in.)
8. Connect the air flow sensor connector.
9. Close the hood.
