MANUAL TRANSAXLE SHIFT LEVER CABLE
ADJUSTMENT
DESCRIPTION:
This TSB provides the procedure to adjust the manual transaxle shift lever cable. Adjust the shift lever cable to allow the shift lever to move left and right evenly in the neutral position.
VEHICLES AFFECTED:
^ Model: 2006 ACCENT(MC) with manual transaxle
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
1. Zip the shift lever boot (A) open.
2. Remove the floor console carpet (C).
3. Remove the floor console rear mounting bolt (D).
4. Remove the left and right floor console side covers (E).
5. Remove the floor console front mounting bolts (F) on both sides.
6. Disconnect the power outlet and cigar jack wiring connectors (C) from the floor console assembly.
7. Remove the floor console assembly.
8. Move the white cover of cable adjuster (J) rearward.
9. Push the locking tab (K) in the arrow direction by using a flat blade screwdriver to release the shift cable (L).
10. Move the shift lever to the right in order to move the shift cable adjuster (M) forward.
11. Push the locking tab (N) to lock it.
12. Verify that the shift lever moves left and right evenly in the neutral position.
NOTE:
If the shift lever moves left and right unevenly, repeat the procedures from step 9) to step 11).
13. Move the white cover of shift cable adjuster (0) into place.
14. Install all the removed components in reverse order of removal.
