Adjustable Brake Pedal Removal And Installation Procedure

Description: This bulletin provides the adjustable brake pedal removal and installation procedure which is not included in the 2007 Santa Fe shop manual, Volume 3 of the publication number: A2BS-EU63A3.

Note: This procedure will be added in the future Santa Fe shop manual publications, Page BR-23.

Service Procedure:






1. Remove the lower crash pad.






2. Remove the reinforcing panel (A).






3. Loosen the screws and remove the steering column upper (A) and lower shrouds (B).









4. Disconnect the connectors (A) from the steering column shaft assembly.






5. Disconnect the ignition switch connector (A) and remove the steering column assembly by loosening the steering column mounting bolts and nuts
Tightening torque:
9.4 - 13 ft. lbs. (13 - 18 Nm) (1.3 - 1.8 kgf.m)
6. Remove the universal joint bolt and then remove the steering column shaft assembly.






7. Remove the relay box (A) with mounting nut (B).






8. Remove the snap pin (A) and joint pin (B).






9. Disconnect the connectors (A) from the adjustable brake pedal assembly.






10. Remove the mounting nuts (9 each) of the adjustable brake pedal assembly
Tightening torque:
Nuts (A): 12.3 - 18.8 ft. lbs. (16.7 - 25.5 Nm) (1.7 - 2.6 kgf.m)
Nuts (B): 9.4 - 11.6 ft. lbs. (12.7 - 15.7 Nm) (1.3 - 1.6 kgf.m)
Nuts (C): 5.8 - 7.2 ft. lbs. (7.8 - 9.8 Nm) (0.8 - 1.0 kgf.m)
11. Remove the adjustable brake pedal assembly.
12. Install all removed parts in the reverse order of removal.

Caution:
- Use a new brake snap pin
- Apply grease to the pin joint before installing the pin

13. Check the brake pedal operation before releasing the vehicle.
