MID-GRADE LEXICON AUDIO SYSTEM - AMPLIFIER REPLACEMENT (CAMPAIGN T55)

This bulletin supersedes TSB 08-01-010 to add information to the table in the remarks section.

IMPORTANT:
DEALERS MUST PERFORM THIS CAMPAIGN ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES PRIOR TO CUSTOMER RETAIL DELIVERY AND WHENEVER AN AFFECTED VEHICLE IS IN THE SHOP FOR ANY MAINTENANCE OR REPAIR.

IMPORTANT:
WHEN A VEHICLE ARRIVES AT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, ACCESS HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA'S "WARRANTY VEHICLE INFORMATION" SCREEN VIA DCS ON-LINE TO IDENTIFY OPEN CAMPAIGNS.

DESCRIPTION:

Symptom / Condition

Some 2009 Genesis vehicles, equipped with the mid-grade Lexicon 6-disc audio system, may exhibit intermittent audio output.

Countermeasure

Replace external amplifier assembly with countermeasure service part as per Service Procedure provided in this bulletin.

NOTE:
This condition does not affect the base-grade single CD audio system or the high-grade 6-disc Lexicon navigation system.





APPLICABLE VEHICLES:





PARTS REQUIRED:

SERVICE PROCEDURE:





1. Open the trunk and remove the trunk carpet (A).





2. Remove the transverse trim mounting bolts (B) and trim fasteners (C) on both sides of the panel.





3. Remove the transverse trim by pulling it straight up as shown.





4. Remove the mounting bolt (D), nut (E), and screws (F) on the lower right side of the luggage trim.





5. Remove the trim fasteners (G) and cargo net anchor (H) as shown. Next, partially remove the trunk weatherstrip seal (I) on the right corner of the trunk body as shown.





Remove the luggage trim upper fastener (J) by pulling the trim down slightly to gain access to the fastener.





6. Pull back the luggage trim as shown to gain access to the amplifier.





7. Disconnect the amplifier harness connectors (L) and remove the (3) mounting nuts (M).





8. Remove the amplifier assembly.

9. Install new countermeasure amplifier.

10. Turn vehicle ignition ON and then turn radio ON.

11. Confirm audio output by tuning radio to a local strong FM station and listening at a moderate to high volume for 2 minutes.

12. If audio output is constant, proceed to step 13.

If audio output is intermittent, first inspect countermeasure amplifier to ensure that the (2) yellow stickers (indicating countermeasure part) are present.

If they are not present, obtain a new amplifier and repeat steps 9-14.

If the yellow stickers are present and the output is still intermittent, obtain a new amplifier and repeat steps 9-14.

13. Re-install all components in the reverse order of removal.

14. Procedure complete.
