This TSB has been revised to include Genesis Sedan 4.6L and Equus 4.6L

DESCRIPTION:

Follow the Service Procedure to diagnose a vehicle with an intermittent:

^ "ESC OFF" lamp illuminated together with DTC U0101 and/or C1612

^ Harsh shift into D and Rand transmission in 3rd gear fail-safe

^ No shift out of Park

APPLICABLE VEHICLES:
Model: Genesis Coupe 3.8L, Genesis Sedan 4.6L and Equus Sedan 4.6L with automatic transmission

PARTS INFORMATION

SERVICE PROCEDURE: (NOTE: The procedure is shown for a Genesis Coupe)

1. Drain the ATF.





2. Remove the CLG-ZF connector at the rear of the transmission.





3. Remove the plastic oil pan (D).





4. Press down on the tab and pull the white clip down.





5. Pull the guide sleeve (F) out of the mechatronic by turning it counterclockwise.





6. Use a 140 TORX wrench to remove the mechatronic bolts, beginning with the outermost bolts.

7. Remove the mechatronic.

8. Install the new adaptor (H) to the transmission case.





9. Carefully align the range switch with the manual valve and install the new mechatronic.





10. Install the bolts and tighten, beginning with the innermost bolts.

Torque: 5.3 - 6.5 lb-ft (73 - 90 kg.cm)

11. Install a new guide sleeve and push the white clip fully upward.





12. Install the oil pan and tighten the bolts to specification in the order shown.

Torque: 6.5 - 8.1 lb-ft (90 - 110 kg.cm)





13. Install the GLG-ZF connector and rotate clockwise past the detent mark.





14. Add approximately five quarts of Shell 11375.4 ATF (P/N 00232-19015).

15. Use the GDS to monitor ATF temperature. Start the engine, shift into Park and add ATF until oil flows out the fill plug in a thin steady stream when the ATF is at the specified temperature (86 - 122°F, 30 - 50°C) according to TSB 09-AT-001.

16. Drive the vehicle for two key-on to key-off drive cycles. If:

^ DTC U0101 and/or C1612 do not reset, return the vehicle to the customer.

^ DTC U0101 and/or G1612 reset, refer to the ETM for diagnosis.
