FLOOR CONSOLE REAR POWER OUTLET REPLACEMENT
DESCRIPTION:
This bulletin describes the procedure for replacing the rear power outlet on Tucson (JM) vehicles equipped with a floor-mounted rear console accessory power outlet that may experience a broken or damaged power outlet cover cap.
APPLICABLE VEHICLES:
Model: TUCSON (JM)
Applicable vehicle production date range: From JOB#1 to February 18, 2009.
PART INFORMATION
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
1. Remove the floor console end cover (A) with a plastic trim stick or flat blade screwdriver.
CAUTION:
If using a flat blade screwdriver, wrap the tip with masking tape to avoid scratching the console assembly as shown.
2. Disconnect the accessory power outlet wiring connector (B).
3. Insert a short flat blade screwdriver into hole (C). With the screwdriver, rotate socket (C1) while pushing down to release socket (C1).
4. Now release the socket holder by pushing on both lock tabs (D). Discard the old socket holder.
5. Install the new socket holder by aligning the locking key of the new socket holder (E) with the key hole (F).
6. Install the new socket by guiding it past the socket holder's lock tabs (D).
7. Turn the console cover trim over and secure the new socket into the socket holder by rotating it as shown until the tabs positively engage. The socket is now fitted securely.
8. Reconnect the accessory power outlet wiring connector.
9. Install the floor console end cover by snapping it into place by hand.
NOTE:
Carefully observe the location of the securing clips (circled in red).
10. Reinstall the floor console end cover by lightly tapping it into place. Inspect and confirm that the cover is attached securely and verify proper operation of accessory power outlet.
