SMART JUNCTION BOX REPLACEMENT
DESCRIPTION:
If a 2010 Tucson vehicle exhibits all of the the following six conditions, replace the Smart Junction Box:
1. The rear tailgate release button is inoperable.
2. The Key Reminder is inoperable.
3. The Door Ajar Warning Light in the instrument cluster illuminates with all doors closed.
4. The Dome Lamp remains on with all doors closed.
5. The Central Door Lock Switch is inoperable.
6. The Auto Door Lock function is inoperable.
VEHICLES AFFECTED:
All 2010 Tucson vehicles produced from the start of production through January 17, 2010.
PARTS INFORMATION:
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
1. Record the customer's radio stations and, using a 10 mm socket, disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Using a flat blade screwdriver, carefully remove the left crash pad side cover (A). Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the four screws and remove the crash pad lower panel (B).
3. Disconnect the five (5) wiring connectors (D) from the front side of the smart junction box (C).
4. Using a 10 mm socket, remove the three (3) smart junction box mounting bolt and nuts (E).
-Tightening Torque: O.4~0.6kg.f-m (3.92~5.88N-m, 2.89~4.34 lb.f-ft)
5. Disconnect the 4 wiring connectors (F) from the back side of the smart junction box and remove the smart junction box.
5a. Photo after the smart junction box has been removed.
6. Install the new smart junction box (G).
7. Reinstall all removed components in reverse order of removal.
8. Reconnect the negative battery cable and verify all the previously affected components are functioning correctly.
9. Reset the customer's radio stations and clock.
