STEERING COLUMN ROWER TILT AND TELESCOPE MODULE REPLACEMENT
This bulletin supersedes TSB 11-BE-003 to update the service procedure and part numbers.
Description:
This bulletin provides service procedures to replace the tilt and telescope module for some BH Genesis vehicles.
Applicable Vehicles:
^ Model: Genesis Sedans (BH) with power tilt/telescope column
^ Production Range: From April 25th 2008 to May 3rd 2011.
NOTE
For vehicles produced from April 25, 2008 through November 14, 2009, an additional procedure is required (Service Procedure # 2).
Service Procedure # 2 is not applicable to vehicles produced after November 14, 2009.
All vehicles must have Service Procedure # 3 performed after replacing the tilt/tele unit (Service Procedure # 1).

SERVICE PROCEDURE: Perform the following procedures in order.
SERVICE PROCEDURE # 1. STEERING COLUMN TILT & TELESCOPE UNIT REPLACEMENT
NOTE
- Before beginning, note all radio presets. Presets should be reset at the conclusion of this service procedure.
- Disconnect battery negative terminal before performing this service procedure.
1. Partially remove the left door weatherstrip (A).
2. Remove the crash pad side cover (B).
3. Loosen the lower panel mounting screws (C).
4. Disconnect the lower panel connectors (D) and then remove the lower panel.
5. Remove the reinforcement panel by loosening the mounting nuts (E).
6. Disconnect the steering column tilt & telescope unit connector (F) and remove the mounting nut (G).
Remove the steering column tilt & telescope unit (H).
7. Remove the steering column tilt & telescope unit ECU by releasing the lock from the mounting bracket (I).
Install a new steering column tilt & telescope unit in reverse order of removal.
SERVICE PROCEDURE # 2. STEERING COLUMN TILT AND TELESCOPE SWITCH REMOVAL
NOTE
This procedure is only applicable to vehicles produced from April 25, 2008 through November 14, 2009. If vehicle is produced after November 14, 2009, skip to Service Procedure # 3.
Vehicles built before November 15, 2009 have tilt and telescope travel limit switches. The new tilt & telescope unit does not use these inputs and it is required to remove them according to the procedure below.
1. Remove the steering column lower shroud (B) by loosening the mounting screws (A).
2. Cut the tilt switch wiring from the switch end part (C) to the band cable (D) as shown in the photo.
3. Cut the telescope switch wiring from the switch end part (E) to the end part (F) of the motor connector as shown in the photo.
NOTE
Cut the wiring as close as possible to the band cable or switch.
4. Reinstall all the removed parts in reverse order of removal.
