HOW TO REMOVE AND REPLACE 2013 SANTA FE (AN) BLUE LINK TELEMATICS UNIT (TMU)





Description:
This bulletin describes the procedures of how to remove and replace the Blue Link TMU.

Applicable Vehicles:
2013 SANTA FE (AN)

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

1. Remove the Negative (-) terminal from the battery.





2. Remove the shift knob.







3. Remove the panel covering the transmission gear shifter.

Unplug the harness that is attached to the cover.





4. Remove the 2 screws nears the gear shifter and 3 screws inside the center console.





5. Lift and slide the center console to the rear of the vehicle as shown in the picture.







6. Remove the side trim panel.





7. Lift and move the trim body to the left and then gently push it downward.





8. Remove the passenger side panel.









9. Remove the 2 screws holding the trim piece above the glove box.





10. Remove the trim piece above the glove box.





11. Remove the glove box:

^ Remove the two side knobs from inside the glove box.

^ Pinch the left and right side clips on the damper/strut to free it from the glove box.

^ Remove the two pins underneath the glove box which holds it in place.

Remove the 2 screws holding the panel underneath the glove box. Remove the panel.





12. Remove all the screws holding the glove box body panel.





13. Remove the glove box body panel.





14. The TMU is located next to the blower fan.

Unplug the two antenna wires attached to the TMU along with the main harness.

Remove the 3 screws holding the TMU in place.





15. TMU removed. Note the 3 screws location on the TMU bracket.

16. Reinstall all removed parts and trim pieces in reverse order.

17. Re-connect the Negative (-) terminal to the battery.

Confirm all functions are working properly such as AM/FM, XM, Navigation, Blue Link, and register itself to previous account etc.

To quickly test Blue Link, press the Blue Link button on the rear view mirror, search for a POI, and then download it to the radio unit. Confirm the POI is downloaded successfully.

If everything is working properly, then reprogram all the customers presets.

18. Check for any incidental Diagnostic Codes (DTC) using the GDS tool. Clear all DTC(s) from the vehicle, and then proceed with clearing the DTC(s) from the Blue Link system. Refer to the Blue Link DTC clearing procedure in TSB 12-BE-005-2.
