Air Temperature Sensor ( Ambient / Intake ): Testing and Inspection

Intake Air Temperature Test:

PROCEDURE 1 - AT COMPONENT
Check resistance as shown in the figure.

Intake Air Temperature Sensor Functional Test:

PROCEDURE 2 - AT ECM
NOTE: Wait until engine coolant temperature is less than 90°C (194°F).
1. Turn ignition switch "ON".
2. Check voltage between ECM terminal 51 and ground.
Voltage: More than 1.2 Volts DC
3. If the voltage is not more than 1.2 Volts DC, turn ignition switch "OFF" and cool down engine.

NOTE: Wait until engine coolant temperature is less than 90°C (194°F).
1. Turn ignition switch "ON" wait for at least 5 seconds.
2. Turn ignition switch "OFF", wait for at least 3 seconds and then turn "ON".
3. Perform diagnostic test mode II (Self-diagnostic results) with ECM.
