CONSULT-II ECM REPROGRAMMING SOFTWARE UPDATE (UER00B)

SERVICE INFORMATION
CONSULT-II ECM reprogramming software is being updated from UER00A to UER00B.
The UER00B software update will be included on the ASIST CD starting from June 1, 2000 and can be loaded directly from ASIST to CONSULT-II (refer to the Service Procedure below).
The CONSULT-II resident software may also be updated from version 3.1.3 to 3.2.
The updated software incorporates the enhancements to CONSULT-II operation shown:
CONSULT-II ECM REPROGRAMMING SOFTWARE UPDATE PROCEDURE (ECM REPROGRAMMING AND RESIDENT)
Service Procedure
Use the procedure below to perform software updates from the ASIST PC to CONSULT-II.
1. Install the ORANGE ECM Reprogramming Card into slot "A" of CONSULT-II (see Figure 1).
2. Connect the AC power supply to CONSULT-II.
3. Connect CONSULT-II to the ASIST PC with the special Ethernet cable (P/N 02002554, printed on the cable) contained in the CONSULT-II kit.
NOTE:
DO NOT USE the network cable attached to the Infinitinet network.
NOTE:
Connect the special ethernet cable to the ASIST PC by connecting it to the ethernet card connection port located on the back of the computer. Connect the special ethernet cable to CONSULT-II at the PC port located at the bottom end of the CONSULT-II unit.
4. Set the Ethernet (IP) Address between the ASIST PC and CONSULT-II as follows:
NOTE:
If the ethernet (IP) address between the ASIST PC and CONSULT-II has already been set, proceed with step 5.
A. On the ASIST PC, click "Start", "Programs" and "MS-DOS".
B. When the MS-DOS Prompt window appears, after C:\WINDOWS> type: winipcfg (see Figure 2).
C. Click "Enter". The "IP Configuration" window will display the Ethernet (IP) Address and Mask (see Figure 3).
D. With the ORANGE ECM Reprogramming card in the "A" slot and CONSULT-II turned on, touch "Sub Mode", then touch "Configure Ethernet".
^ If the first three sets of numbers of the CONSULT-II Ethernet (IP) Address match the Address on the ASIST PC (as noted in step 4C above) proceed with step 4H below ("Turn off CONSULT-II to allow the...").
^ If the first three sets of numbers of the CONSULT-II Ethernet (IP) Address do not match the Address on the ASIST PC, proceed with step 4E below ("Touch the Address number on the...").
E. Touch the Address number on the CONSULT-II screen (titled "Configure Ethernet"). A numeric keypad will appear (see Figure 4).
NOTE:
The Ethernet (IP) Address for the ASIST PC you are working on will be different from the Address shown in Figure 4.
F. Use the key pad to set the CONSULT-II Ethernet (IP) Address to match the ASIST PC Address with the exception that the Address number ends with 176.
G. Touch "Save" and then press "Copy" to print the Address for future reference.
H. Turn off CONSULT-II to allow the new Address to be saved in memory.
I. On the ASIST PC, close the "IP Configuration" window, close the "MS-DOS Prompt" window, then proceed with step 5.
5. Launch ASIST. From the ASIST PC main menu screen, select "INFO. Tool Box" (see Figure 5).
6. From the "INFORMATION TOOLBOX" screen, select "CONSULT Utilities" (see Figure 6).
7. From the "CONSULT Utilities" screen, select "CONSULT-II", then select "Update" (see figure 7).
8. Turn on CONSULT-II as follows (file transfer mode):
A. While pressing on the CONSULT-II screen, quickly depress the ON/OFF switch (see Figure 8), then release your thumb from the screen after a double-beep is heard.
NOTE:
A double-beep will sound after the ON/OFF switch is quickly depressed.
B. Select "Transfer files via Lan" (see Figure 9). Set the CONSULT-II unit down for now.
NOTE:
If you accidentally choose a menu option other than "Transfer Files via Lan", turn CONSULT-II off and restart it according to step 8.A above.
9. At the ASIST PC, select the "Okay" button on the "CONSULT-II Setup" screen.
10. Select the "ECM Reprogramming" button (see Figure 10).
11. Make sure the ethernet (IP) address (for CONSULT-II) is correct on the "Connection" screen, then select the "OK" button (see Figure 11).
NOTE:
The ethernet (IP) address for the ASIST PC you are working on will be different from the address contained in Figure 11.
NOTE:
There are no zeros in front of the numbers on this screen.
12. Wait until the data transfer is complete. Data transfer will take about 2 to 3 minutes and the progress of the transfer is displayed on the ASIST PC screen titled "Dialog" (see Figure 12).
NOTE:
When the data transfer is complete, the CONSULT-II unit will automatically shut off.
Update CONSULT-II Resident Software (as noted below)
13. Turn on CONSULT-II again by following step 8 above (file transfer mode).
14. At the ASIST PC screen, select the "Resident" button (see Figure 13) and wait until the data transfer is complete. Allow several seconds for the CONSULT-II screen to dim. Once the CONSULT-II screen is dim, the software update is complete.
15. Turn on CONSULT-II normally. The Start screen should display the new software version I.D. number.
16. Disconnect the AC power cord and the ethernet cable from CONSULT-II.
