Reset Sunshade Rest Position Procedure

Reset Sunshade Rest Position Procedure:

1. Position a tie wrap under the sunshade, sliding it under the center of the sunshade assembly, in front of the sub-woofer.

2. Remove the sunshade gear box side cover (see Figure 12).

3. Remove the two motor gear retainer screws (see Figure 13 for location and identification).

4. Remove the motor gear retainer (see Figure 13 for location and identification).

5. Remove the idler gear (see Figure 13 for location and identification). See Figure 14 below for view of the idler gear removed.

6. Attach a socket wrench to the hex head on the sunshade gear (see Figure 14). This will hold the sunshade in its current position while the remaining sunshade gear parts are removed in the following steps.

7. Remove the sunshade belt (see Figure 14 for view of belt removed). See Figure 13 for location and identification of the belt.

8. Turn the socket wrench to retract the sunshade fully.

9. Connect and tighten the tie wrap (see Figure 15) that was positioned at the center of the sunshade in step 1.

10. Turn the ignition to "ACC" and press the console "DOWN" sunshade button. This activates the sunshade motor and sets the rest position of the sunshade.

NOTE: Verify that the sunshade motor activates by listening for the whirring motor noise.

11. Re-install the belt (see Figure 13 on for location).

12. Re-install the idler gear (see Figure 13 for location).

13. Re-install the belt retainer onto the motor gear. Insert and tighten the two screws that hold it in place (see Figure 13 for location).

NOTE: Place a small dot of grease onto the bit tip of the screwdriver to hold the screws in place on the screwdriver while inserting and tightening.

14. Cut the tie wrap.

15. Verify that the sunshade is fully retracted by visually inspecting the sunshade upper base frame. The edge of the two sunshade screen retainer clips must be inserted in the crease of the sunshade upper base frame (see Figure 16).

A. If the sunshade is fully retracted, proceed with Reset Sunshade Fully Extend Position Procedure below.

B. If the sunshade is not fully retracted, complete the following steps:

1) Position a new tie wrap under the sunshade, sliding it under the center of the sunshade assembly, in front of the sub-woofer.

2) Repeat steps 3 through 15 through 11 until the sunshade is properly retracted, then proceed with Reset Sunshade Fully Extend Position Procedure below.
