SERVICE INFORMATION
If an Applied 2002 Q45 A/C system cools slowly or does not get cold enough, this bulletin provides a series of service procedures intended to improve the cool-down performance of the A/C system.
Installation and replacement parts for the Evaporator Seal Application, Blower Motor Replacement, and Engine Compartment - A/C System Parts Replacement procedures are provided in the A/C Service Kit (see PARTS INFORMATION section for detail).
Replacement grille parts needed to complete the A/C Ventilator Grilles Replacement Procedure are provided in the Grille Replacement Kit. The Grille Replacement kit must be ordered based on interior trim color (see Step 1 under A/C Ventilator Grilles Replacement Procedure and the PARTS INFORMATION section for detail).
Service Procedure Overview:
^ Install an evaporator seal
^ Replace the blower motor
^ Replace the ventilation air filter (micro filter)
^ Replace the right and left-hand side ventilator grilles
^ Replace the left center ventilator grille
^ Replace the right and left b-pillar instrument side finishers (if vehicle is equipped)
^ Replace the alternator/water pump/A-C compressor belt
^ Replace the low-pressure pipe
^ Replace the low-pressure flexible hose
^ Replace the compressor
^ Reduce the quantity of oil in the replacement compressor
^ Increase the amount of refrigerant
^ Replace the A/C information label on the underside of the hood
^ Reprogram the vehicle's ECM to the New ECM Data P/N (if needed)
Complete all of the steps in the Service Procedure provided in this bulletin and use the A/C Service kit and color appropriate Grille Replacement kit shown in the PARTS INFORMATION section of this bulletin to resolve this incident, if it should occur.
