Interior - Center Console Cup Holder Lid Inoperative

This bulletin contains amended Parts Information and expanded to include MY 2007. Please discard all copies of the earlier version.

IF YOU CONFIRM

The front center console cup holder lid will not open and/or close correctly,

ACTIONS

1. Remove the All finisher (with cup holder).

2. Replace the cup holder assembly per the Service Procedure in this bulletin.

NOTE:
Do not replace the entire All finisher for this incident.





PARTS INFORMATION





CLAIMS INFORMATION

IMPORTANT:
The purpose of "ACTIONS" (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire Service Procedure as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Remove the All shift finisher.

^ Refer to section IP in the Electronic Service Manual (ESM) for All finisher removal information.

2. Set the finisher upside down on a clean soft working surface.

CAUTION:
Be Careful don't scratch the finisher.





3. Remove the 4 screws shown in Figure 1.

These screws hold the shift selector guide to the All finisher.





4. Move the shift selector guide to the side as shown in Figure 2.

5. Remove the 4 screws shown in Figure 2.

These screws hold the cup holder assembly to the A/T finisher.





6. Remove the cup holder assembly from the All shift finisher.





7. From the bottom side of the cup holder assembly remove the 2 screws shown in Figure 4. These screws hold the cup hold lid finisher to the cup holder lid.

8. Turn the cup holder over and remove the cup holder lid finisher.





NOTE:
If you find spacer washers between the lid finisher and the cup holder discard them. They will not be reused (see Figure 5).

9. Install the original lid finisher on the new cup holder assembly as follows:





a. Attach 2 pieces of double sided tape to the top of the new cup holder lid (see Figure 6).

^ Use Scotch(R) Mounting Tape listed in the Parts Information.

^ Make tape pieces about 2 inches (50 mm) long.

b. Remove the backing from the double sided tape.





c. Place the lid finisher in front of the cup holder lid (see Figure 7a)

d. Then rotate the finisher into place (see Figure 7b).

e. Install the attaching screws. (The attaching screws are shown in Figure 4)

10. Reinstall the cup holder assembly shift selector guide and All finisher in reverse order.



11. Open and close the cup holder lid a few times to make sure it is operating correctly.
