IF YOU CONFIRM
An Applied Vehicle has the AWD warning light "ON" with one or both of the following DTC codes stored:
^ C1204 (AWD Solenoid)
^ C1205 (AWD Actuator Relay)
ACTIONS
1. Replace the electric controlled coupling in the transfer assembly and the oil cover.
NOTE:
Do not replace the entire transfer assembly for this incident, should it occur.

CAUTION:
Use only Genuine NISSAN Matic J. Do not mix with other fluids. Using transmission fluid other than Genuine NISSAN Matic J, or its equivalent, may cause deterioration in drivability and transfer assembly durability, and may damage the transfer case assembly.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Remove the transfer assembly from the vehicle and place it in a clean working area.
^ Refer to the DLN section of the applicable Electronic Service Manual (ESM) for removal information.
2. Disassemble the transfer assembly and replace the electric controlled coupling and the oil cover with the parts listed in the Parts Information section.

Helpful tips for coupling replacement
The drive chain, front drive shaft, main shaft, and coupler assembly are removed together:
^ Use a rubber mallet to tap on the rear of the main shaft, while
^ Pulling outward on the front drive shaft.
NOTE:
Make sure to use Anaerobic Liquid Gasket to reseal (reassemble) the case, See Parts Information section.
