SERVICE PROCEDURE

TED Duct Connector Modification

IMPORTANT:
Follow all cautions warnings and notes in the ESM when working on or near a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) such as an airbag.

NOTE:
The photos in this Service Procedure are of the front passenger seat - the driver seat is a mirror image.

1. Remove the seat backboard as follows:

NOTE:
The seat backboard is held on with:








a. Insert fingers behind the lower corners of the backboard as shown.





b. Pull straight back to disengage the lower clips.





C. Insert fingers behind the sides of the backboard as shown.

d. Pull straight back to disengage the side clips.





e. Pull down to disengage the upper pawls.





f. Unclip the strap between the backboard and the seat frame.

g. Place the backboard in a clean safe area.

2. Replace the duct connector between the seat back and the Thermal Electronic Device (TED) as follows:





a. Remove the 2 TED screws.





b. Pull the TED away from the seat.

NOTE:
The duct connector may stay in the seat back as the TED is pulled away.





c. Remove the duct connector.





3. Cut 4 holes in the duct connector - 2 on each side (see Figure 9).

^ Figure 9 shows approximate location for cutting holes.

^ The holes must be large enough for a 10 mm diameter object to pass through.

^ Holes can be round or square.

4. Install the duct connector back onto the TED.





^ Make sure it is pushed all the way onto the TED - until it stops as shown in Figure 10.





5. Push the TED back into the seat.

6. Reinstall the 2 screws.

7. Reinstall the seat backboard in reverse order.
