SERVICE INFORMATION

Effective December 11, 1989, American Isuzu Motors Parts Distribution Network will begin a remanufacturing program of selected OEM service parts. Under this program, starters, alternators, brake calipers and turbocharger are eligible for return and credit. After December 31, 1989, Isuzu Parts Distribution Centers will not accept any turbocharger cores, as they must be returned to your facing core retrieval hub.

This Service Bulletin contains core acceptance criteria and core return procedures. Refer to Parts Information Bulletin AIPDN-PTS-A35-89 for parts applicability and instructions on how to complete the AIPDN Core Return/Credit Authorization Request Form.

As of December 11, 1989, applicable parts will be available as remanufactured only. If you order one of the applicable units by its previous "new" part number (8-9XXXX-XXX-X) after December 11, you will receive a remanufactured unit (2-9XXXX-XX-X). All Genuine Isuzu Remanufactured Parts meet original equipment specifications. Component parts for new units will continue to be available as shown in the Parts Catalog.

Contact your Zone Service and Parts Manager if you have any questions about the AIPDN Remanufacturing Program.
CORE ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA

The term "core" applies to OE and authorized remanufactured Genuine Isuzu starters, alternators, disc brake calipers and turbochargers removed from an Isuzu vehicle. All cores eligible for return and credit must meet the following criteria -- No exceptions.

1. Genuine Isuzu Turbochargers

a. Manufactured by Garrett or Warner Ishi

b. Must be complete units, with no missing parts, fully assembled and returned in the same box.

c. Must be drained of oil and packaged in the same manner as the replacement unit, including plugs, packing material, etc.

2. Genuine Isuzu Starter Motors and Alternators

a. Manufactured by Hitachi or Nippondenso

b. Must be complete units, with no missing parts, fully assembled and returned in the same box as the replacement unit.

c. All starters must contain their solenoid. All alternators must have their pulley attached.

3. Genuine Isuzu Brake Calipers

a. Manufactured by Akebono or Sumitomo
b. Must be complete units, with no missing parts, fully assembled and returned in the same box as the replacement unit.

c. Must be completely drained of brake fluid and packed in the same manner as the replacement unit.

Disassembled, damaged, broken or seized cores have no core value and will not be returned to the dealer. Therefore, it is your responsibility to ensure that returned cores meet the acceptance criteria outlined above. Core credit is given on a one-for-one purchase basis. No partial credit will be given for units that are not complete. The number of cores returned cannot exceed the number of individual dealer's purchases of remanufactured parts.

WARRANTY PARTS REIMBURSEMENT

Existing dealer stock of new alternators, starters and brake calipers used for warranty repair will be reimbursed at "new" prices until March 15, 1990. After that date, all warranty replacement of these applicable units will be reimbursed at "remanufactured" rates. Of course, you may use a remanufactured unit for a warranty repair before March 15, 1990.

The warranty for all AIPDN remanufactured parts will carry the balance of the new car warranty, or the existing parts warranty, whichever is greater. Refer to Warranty Bulletin WB08-89 for details on the warranty for remanufactured parts.
