SERVICE INFORMATION

A rattling noise coming from the tailgate area may be caused by insufficient insulation between the lower tailgate door and the body.

To eliminate this condition, follow the instructions in this Service Bulletin for installing a section of vacuum tubing in the tailgate weatherstrip on both sides of the door opening.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Cut two 12" lengths of vacuum tubing (11/32" outside diameter).

2. Prepare the tailgate weatherstrip on both sides as follows. See Figure 1.

a. Locate an existing vent hole in the weatherstrip, near the striker.

b. Carefully cut a 1/4" vertical slit to slightly enlarge the vent hole, to allow insertion of the vacuum tubing.

3. Insert the vacuum tubing, sliding it down into the weather-strip. Position tubing as shown in Figure 1. Take care to prevent damaging the weatherstrip.
