Fuel Filter: Description and Operation

Fuel Filter:

PURPOSE
Filters impurities from fuel.

LOCATION
On the frame rail, under the vehicle.

OPERATION
Fuel flows from the fuel tank and pump through the fuel lines and through the filter. The element in the filter traps particulates. The clean fuel then travels to the fuel injection components.


CONSTRUCTION
It is a fiberous element encased in a sealed metal jacket. As it can't be disassembled, it must be replaced as an assembly.
