4ZDI/4ZEI ENGINE EXHAUST VALVE LEAKING

SERVICE INFORMATION

Isuzu has developed new exhaust valves, guides, and seats to improve the durability of exhaust valves used in 4ZD1 and 4ZE1 engines. When servicing affected vehicles for a leaking exhaust valve condition, refer to the appropriate workshop manual for servicing procedures. Be sure to replace damaged parts with the new parts listed in the Parts Information section of this Information Bulletin. These new parts must be replaced as a set (i.e., exhaust valve guide, exhaust valve seat insert, exhaust valve) to ensure the best durability life. These new parts are currently available from the American Isuzu Parts Distribution Network (AIPDN).

IMPORTANT:
Repairs should only be done to individual cylinders diagnosed with an exhaust leak, not all 4 cylinders unless required.
