ISSUE DATE: JULY 2002

Campaign Identification Number

Number 02V-120 has been assigned to this campaign. This number will appear on all communications and documentation of any nature dealing with this campaign.

Affected Vehicles
1997-1999 Oasis (VO)

Service Information

Condition:
Honda Motor Co., Ltd, the manufacturer of the Isuzu Oasis, has determined that a certain number of 1997-1999 Oasis vehicles have electrical contacts within the ignition switch that can wear prematurely. This condition can eventually cause the engine to stall without warning. An affected vehicle may experience difficulty in starting for a period of time before experiencing any engine stall. When a stall does occur, the engine can normally be restarted immediately.

Correction:
All affected 1997-1999 Oasis vehicles will have the ignition switch replaced.

NOTE:
Reinstalling aftermarket parts (security systems, alarms, audio systems, etc.) connected to the ignition wiring is not covered under this campaign. If a customer wants a non-OE part reinstalled, the shop that installed the part (or the customer) must do the work and assume liability. In addition the customer is responsible for all costs associated with the non-OE part and its installation.

Dealer Responsibility

Isuzu dealers must service all affected vehicles at no charge to the owner, regardless of mileage, age of vehicle, or ownership.

Whenever a vehicle is affected by this campaign and is in a dealers vehicle inventory, or arrives at a dealership for service, the dealer must take the necessary steps to ensure that this campaign correction has been made before selling or releasing the vehicle.

Owner Notification

American Isuzu Motors Inc. (AIMI) will send a notification letter to owners of affected vehicles already retailed (A Copy is shown). Dealers should follow up with vehicle owners by sending a Campaign Reminder Notice (AIMI SVCF-1052) to all vehicle owners listed in the AIMI Campaign Report AWS 123-1A. Dealers may obtain these postcards from their Regional Office.
