AW03-70 & AW03-72L Transmissions




1. Disconnect battery ground cable and throttle valve control cable.
2. Remove transmission fluid dipstick.
3. Raise and support vehicle, then drain transmission fluid.
4. Remove starter, exhaust pipe bracket and propeller shaft.
5. Disconnect speedometer cable and shift control rod.
6. Disconnect oil cooler lines by loosening nuts on the transmission side. Move lines close to body to prevent damage during transmission removal.
7. Remove transmission dust cover and under cover.
8. Remove six converter to flywheel attaching bolts by turning the crankshaft pulley with a wrench.
9. Remove rear transmission mount attaching bolts, then raise engine and transmission assembly using a suitable jack. Remove rear crossmember.
10. Remove transmission housing to engine attaching bolts, then lower transmission from vehicle. When removing transmission, use caution to avoid dropping torque converter.
11. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following torques: transmission housing to engine attaching bolts, 36-58 ft. lbs. and torque converter to flywheel attaching bolts, 72.3-79.4 ft. lbs.
