MANUAL TRANSMISSION HARD SHIFTING

All Isuzu vehicles with manual transmissions.

Service Information

Customer complaints of hard shifting in Isuzu vehicles with manual transmissions may persist even after the first several hundred miles the vehicle has been driven.

Service Procedure

SAE 30 engine oil is used as the factory fill in Isuzu manual transmissions. To assist in handling customer complaints of hard shifting, drain the factory fill oil from the transmission and replace it with the correct amount of SAE 5W-30 engine oil. The use of thismulti grade engine oil will significantly improve shifting characteristics.

Automatic transmission fluid may not be used since it will adversely affect synchronizer performance.
