Changing Fluid

1. Place a suitable container under the oil pan and remove the drain plug.
2. Remove filler tube clip bolt and 14 bolts securing the oil pan, remove pan and discard gasket.
3. Remove 5 oil screen securing bolts, then the screen.
4. Thoroughly clean oil pan, oil pan magnet and oil screen with solvent and air dry.
5. Install oil screen, torque bolts to 3.6-4.3 ft. lbs.
6. Place oil pan magnet in oil pan directly below the oil screen location.
7. Using a new gasket, install the oil pan. Torque bolts to 2.9-3.6 ft. lbs. Install filler tube clip bolt, torque to 28.9 ft. lbs.
8. Using a new gasket, install drain plug. Torque to 10.8-14.5 ft. lbs.
9. Add 2.1 quarts of Dexron II fluid, then with engine idling and in Neutral and service brakes applied, move the gear selector through each gear range then back to Neutral position.
10. Check fluid level and add fluid as required to bring fluid to within specifications.
