Throttle Position Sensor: Description and Operation
Throttle Position Sensor (Auto. Trans.):
The Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is connected to the throttle valve shaft in the throttle body assembly. The TPS is a potentiometer with one connection to ground and the other to an ECM 5V voltage source. As throttle angle changes, so does TPS voltage output. By monitoring this change, the ECM enters throttle valve angle into its air/fuel ratio adjustment calculations.
