Hot Idle Compensator

Hot Idle Compensator:

NOTE: Never touch bimetal temperature sensing portion of hot idle compensator.

- Remove air cleaner if necessary and attach a test hose to hot idle compensator.
- With a suitable thermometer, check temperature in immediate vicinity of compensator.
- Blow on the hose. If the temperature is above 46° -52° C (115° -126° F), air should pass through compensator. Air flow should be blocked if temperature is below specification.
- To facilitate testing, a hair dryer may be used to raise the temperature.
- Replace the hot idle compensator if it fails this test.
