EFE Coolant Temperature Switch: Service and Repair

Early Fuel Evaporation System:

EFE HEATER REPLACEMENT

1. Remove air cleaner assembly.
2. Disconnect all electrical, vacuum and fuel connections from carburetor and remove carburetor.
3. Disconnect EFE electrical connector and remove EFE heater.
4. Install new EFE heater and reverse previous steps.
5. Start engine and ensure that there are no fuel or vacuum leaks.

EFE TEMPERATURE SENSOR REPLACEMENT

1. Drain coolant to below level of thermostat housing.
2. Disconnect electrical connector and remove sensor.
3. Apply a soft setting sealant to threads of new sensor and install.
4. Tighten sensor to 27 Nm (20 ft.lb.).
5. Refill coolant, run engine and check for leaks.
