Boost Pressure Test
- Disconnect hose between 3-way and wastegate at 3-way.- Connect J35691 turbocharger pressure gauge tester to hose and route gauge into a position that can be viewed during a road test.
- Warm engine to operating temperature.
- In a safe manner, accelerate the vehicle under full throttle and observe the gauge.
- Boost pressure should be approximatley 55 - 68 kpa (8 - 10 psi).
- If boost pressure is lower, check the following:
^ Restricted exhaust
^ Restricted intake
^ Faulty turbocharger
^ Faulty MAP sensor
^ Faulty wastegate
- If boost pressure is higher, DTC 31 should be stored in the ECM memory. Check the following:
^ Faulty wastegate solenoid
^ Faulty wastegate
^ Faulty turbocharger
- Wastegate actuator should start to move at 55 - 62 kpa (8 - 9 psi) and reach full travel at 68 kpa (10 psi).
