Ignition Timing: Adjustments

1. With transmission in "P" or "N," warm engine to normal operating temperature. Ensure "Check Engine" light is "OFF." Turn engine and all accessories "OFF."
2. Put electronic spark timing (EST) in bypass mode by disconnecting set timing connector. Set timing connector is two black/white wires joined by a white connector located under the center console tray between the front seats. DO NOT disconnect the distributor 4-wire connector.
3. Connect timing light, start engine and idle.
4. Loosen distributor hold down and set timing to 10° BTDC @ 800 rpm
5. Tighten distributor hold down.
6. Reconnect timing connector and clear ECM trouble codes by removing ECM fuse or disconnecting battery for 30 seconds.

CAUTION: Be sure ignition is "OFF" when disconnecting or reconnecting ECM power supply.
