INSPECTING THE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLIES

1. Inspect the left and right headlamp assembly for three nubs protruding from the lens (Figure 1). These are the headlamp aiming pads, and their presence indicates the correct U.S. part.

2. If both headlamp assemblies have the three aiming pads. no further action is required. Go to APPLYING THE CAMPAIGN LABEL.

3. If either the left or right headlamp assembly is missing the aiming pads, it must be replaced with the correct U.S. part. Follow steps for REPLACING A HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY. When repairs are completed, go to APPLYING THE CAMPAIGN LABEL.

REPLACING A HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY

NOTE
The headlamp assembly (Part No. 8-15991-379-0 and 8-15997-380-0) includes a mounting bracket. For purposes of this campaign, however, discard the mounting bracket and install only the headlamp capsule portion. Retain the packaging box for the headlamp assembly to ship the original headlamp capsule to AIMI Warranty Parts Return (see Parts Information section of this Campaign Bulletin).

1. Remove the side marker lamp by pushing down on the locking retainer with a flat blade tool, then pulling the lamp assembly outward (Figure 1).

2. Turn the two red locking tabs on the back of the original headlamp capsule counterclockwise to the unlock position, as noted on the back of the lens assembly (Figure 2).

IMPORTANT!
Make sure to push the locking tab forward before turning it counterclockwise. Failure to do this could damage the locking tab.

3. Pull the original headlamp capsule outward to release it from the mounting bracket retaining pins. Disconnect the harness from the original headlamp capsule. Retain the original headlamp capsule for return to AIMI Warranty Parts Return (see Parts Information section of this Campaign Bulletin).

4. Separate the mounting bracket from the headlamp capsule of the new headlamp assembly (Part No. 8-15991-379-0 or 8-15991-380-0). Discard the mounting bracket.

5. Connect the harness to the new headlamp capsule and position the new headlamp capsule onto the mounting bracket retainer parts on the vehicle. Push firmly on the headlamp capsule until a click is heard indicating proper seating.

6. Turn the two red locking tabs clockwise to the lock position (Figure 2).

7. Install the side marker lamp assembly.
